Train children to think
- Every parent, who intends to have great children should read this. In other to train their children to think.
When I say you should train your children to think, I do not say this in the context of school education or training but in the aspect of parental dispositioning. A child should be programmed by parents to be aware of his or her environment, as well as that of other countries with the mind of being acquitted with obtainable factors nationwide, to make the best decision of their life to a global/ international standard.
When a child’s brain is being positioned in a particular way, he tends to synchronize that way/pattern. A child’s exposure most times, determines the level of the target, their brain can set and achieve.
The mentality of our wards, be it low or high mentality, is mainly created by the positioning of their parents, and then their environment assists.
Due to the ignorance of some parents, they fail to understand this factor and end up leaving their children’s faith in their environment, which may make or mere their children’s future. Because a child most times think according to what he sees and hear in a particular environment where he or she grows.
It is, to the best benefit and interest of parents to know this and make hest while the sun shines. Parents having been alerted with the above introduction, are left to think of the best way possible to expose the mind of their children and this exposure can be in two forms
1. By virtual (sight) effect and 2. By actions effect
VIRTUAL (sight) EFFECT
Talking about the virtual effect on the exposure of a child’s mind by parents, parents are advised to draft timetables for their wards mostly in the evening hour or during weekends to watch Foreign, technology and positive moral programs. As such television channels made for kids should be made available By parents to children. As the parents make this available, they should be guiding them, from time to time as they watch the programs. Being with their children while they watch these programs can be of great benefit to the family. Some of the benefits of parents being with their children while they watch are as follows
1. Strengthening the child and parent bond
2. Helping the parent find the children’s talents and interests in life
3. Helping the parents in directing the children on the best way to get along with their peers.
4. Assist the parents to have a better understanding of their child’s temperaments
5. This gives the children an edge over their peers and helps them to grow in wisdom with a great understanding of life
6. Children who virtually grow up with their parents have a better understanding of life because their brains are opened to reality and guidance to such realities
7. Early dictation and pursuit of carrier goals
8. Such children think and assimilate better when being thought because virtually in a more practical way, they are exposed to most knowledge which enables them to link better with the theoretical classroom activities.
ACTION EFFECTS
Action effects comprise of physical activities of a child eg. sporting activities, church activities, school activities, house chores, etc
SPORTS ACTIVITIES
Parents are advised to engage their children in schools with sports facilities like football, basketballs, badminton, volleyballs etc this will enable their children to find the sport they are good at and as well know if that is their career pathway. A child who engages in sports activity earlier has more chances of finding their career path, developing it at a tender age and then becoming a master in that career earlier than his or she equals.
CHURCH ACTIVITY
Church activities are critical to children’s life. When children know about their creator and the commandments of God earlier in life, it guides their path as they grow, helping them to understand what they should do and what they should avoid in life. As they grow in fear of God and discipline, it helps them to be trained to think as children in a positive direction of life and avoid negativity in their way.
Enlightening children on the good and bad things which can be hindrances to their path spirituality, socially and otherwise, helps them in choosing friends as they grow and as such enables them to become good citizens of their country.
As we all know that bad company corrupts good manners. Children who at a tender age, are guided to a good path by the church, are attracted to their peers and grow with them. As such they become an asset to their various families, churches, and society and not a liability. Parents are encouraged to expose their children at a tender age to Sunday school classes, catechism classes and other religious programs for kids in the various churches.
SCHOOL ACTIVITIES
The impact of school activities on children can not be over-emphasized.
A child’s brain as it develops, requires to be guided educationally wise by trained teachers. This teacher helps a child learn the universal language which is the English language as well as know the vowels associated with the local dialects.
Schools assist parents in teaching their children their basic hygiene as such lessen the burden of parents from their business activities, Social activities and political activities to the child’s basic impact of knowledge.
Most of the basic way I child communicates with their parents are taught in school, starting from how to greet the elderly ones, like their parents, teachers and seniors. This plays a great role also on their moral upbringing.Children thinking capacity are enhanced as they go to school. Teachers teach them about their social responsibilities like washing the plates and making sure their environments are clean because cleanliness leads to godliness.
The importance of maintaining good hygiene like brushing their teeth well, washing their clothes regularly, cutting off their nails combing their hair, etc is thought at the early stage of a child’s development which helps a child think properly.
HOUSE CHORES
One of the importance of children to their parents is helping them to keep the environment clean. As the children assist in home chores, they learn too. Because a child will never remain a child forever and when they understand and become used to cleanliness they spread it to another environment they find themselves and that becomes a great quality which can make them go far in life and also be respected.
During the process of performing house chores, especially for children who are more in numbers, the practical knowledge associated with the division of labour is learnt in a most simple and understanding manner.
Time management which is a basic tool in life is learnt in the disposition of a house chore. Parents tend to give their children time to do their chores, eat, play and watch television.
When it comes to thinking, we have two types of thinkers
- Sequential thinkers
- reflective thinkers
- intuitive thinkers and
- Global Thinkers
Sequential thinkers learn by hearing and following the logical part of a story. They watch the details and prefer to learn one step at a time
Reflective thinkers think by asking questions. They learn better when allowed to think as such they are mostly quiet and thoughtful
Intuitive thinkers learn by picturing and understanding every aspect needed to learn and hate to memorize. They are more interested in the theories behind the subject and determine to know if it’s false or true
Global thinkers and intuitive thinkers are alike. Trying to understand both the details and illustrations and are not concerned with thinking logically. They make decisions and reach solutions quickly
knowing about this class of thinkers enables parents and teachers to understand children and helps them think in a way to grow high in reasoning and understanding.
HOW CAN YOU IMPROVE YOUR CHILDREN’S THINKING
A child’s thinking capabilities can be developed y asking questions that stimulate them to think and answer.
There are skills required in thinking and they are classified as follows
- Knowledge
- Comprehension
- Application
- Analysis
- synthesis and
- evaluation
KNOWLEDGE
This involves learning and remembering what you learnt to conclude eg. when you are thinking about schools and benefits. A question might arise, requiring that you should explain the benefits of school. From what you learnt, you can now recall and answer the question appropriately
COMPREHENSION
This involves a proper understanding of a subject matter. An example can be such that you are asked to explain, describe or give detail to something you have read or thought
APPLICATION
This involves implementing the knowledge acquired in a particular field to solve or build. The development of a child’s thinking is the most important part of the thinking aspect when a child is thought in school or at home. Parents should always find a way to see if a child understands a subject or topic by giving them room to implement it. For example, telling your child that in a subject thought in school or church about obeying the parents, how can you obey us in our instructions? Let’s see if you haven’t learnt, start to practice from now to next week and we will tell you about your performance. In such ways, you help them implement their knowledge and as well become useful to you.
ANALYSIS
This involves a part-by-part understanding of a subject matter thus, analyzing.
For example, you can ask your child to show what it means to be hardworking in life as thought in school by performing activities at home. In analytical format, he or she can start by making sure the plates are clean and that is one, two they will make sure the clothes are washed, and they will make sure the environment is always clean and in order.SYNTHESIS
This involves making lots of teachings make sense by performing them in a way to be clearer to anyone.
For example. When a child is thought about hygiene. The Child’s thinking capacity is seen when he or she ensures that. He brushes before any activity in the morning and not sharing his or her belonging, makes sure he doesn’t talk while eating, makes sure the towels are used by him or to avoid skin infections, makes dire his or her surroundings are clean etc showing that all aspect of hygiene are maintained daily in a synthetic form (1. e maintaining all the aspect of personal hygiene to show that he or she is hygienic in correlation to the subject thought )EVALUATIONS
This involves working with some criteria and not necessarily everything as a whole. One child should be encouraged to work with things thought in other to evaluate his or her thinking faculty when thought.
An example can Examplesollows. Telling a child to determine if the gift or Godw’s Gift is the right thing by fighting. While the child explains the actions and arrives at the judgment, a parent or teacher can know the level of thinking and understanding of the child by moral right or wrong involved in the act of fighting another
