Common sense is a great tool for a good life than religion.
Saying that common sense is the tool for a good life, sounds absurd to some people, instead of religion.
Religion is a good institution, when that religion in particular teaches good, it becomes bad religion if it teaches bad. Christians believes the golden rule of which is to do to others what you will like them to do to you and this makes them good. But some religion encourages violence which makes the religion a bad one. But common sense can never be bad, but good. Common sense is the nature of God, manifested to us when he said let us create man in our own image and likeness. Let me take you on a journey, please be patient with me and read on.
There are two types of natural sense.
1. Common sense and 2. Selfish sense.
What I am about to say might seem unacceptable but allow me to explain further. Let me ask you a question, do you think some of our forefathers went to heaven? During there days, do you think stealing, fornication, ritual killings, cyber crime, kidnapping etc were on the high side like it’s the order of the day today? . There are somany mad people due to drug abuse. For instance in Aba some people are classified as “Ndi york”, that are the people who stay mostly out of home and sleep in an area smoking and selling drugs. This is what drugs have made them turn, their sense of reasoning and understanding has been tampered with. Let me ask a question again, do our forefathers have a chance to take cocaine, tramadol, ice, weed, eskay, codeine and other hard drugs? All these drugs were learnt from the more civilized world and then not knowing the essence for which the drugs were made makes some youths constitute a nuisance, because they are imitating the bad eggs of the developed worlds. having been exposed to knowing that such life exists due to civilization and exposure to foreign ways of life. Not being well educated and informed on the essence of such drugs and the essence of their use, has made them take them in the name to be on “highness and enjoy life”, making them lose their common sense and allowing such drugs to take the better part of them and as such become useless to themselves, there family, community, village, society and world at large. This is the negative effect of exposure to foreign ways of life.
Then, let me ask a question again. Is foreign ways of life and technology bad? The answer is capital “No”. But what is bad is not educating the youths properly on the essence of such drugs, the ways to use them, with the effects and dangers it imposes on our society.
Most of these abnormalities are a result of the loss of common sense by the Western world. As I have written in my formal article you are god, create your world before someone discrete it.
Nature, who is God himself gave us the wisdom to dictate the natural resources for the good of our health, society and our world but when we discover these, we tend to allow our selfish sense to take charge of us telling us to make much money over they common good of the people. The tend to use such knowledge in selfish things like drug trafficking and many more, to make money, answering drug barons and business gurus at the detriment of the world (if you involve in all this drug trafficking, be careful because karma is the security and disciplinary of nature. When it hits no remedy).
So let me answer the big question “How is common sense a great tool for a good life?”. As a human being. Even the bible even told us that the word of God is written in our hearts. Every man or woman knows pain and won’t like it to be inflicted on them, common sense tells us that. Every normal human being knows what is right and good which our common sense makes sense to understand.
ln the other hand, religion is a good institution, designed to make human beings keep upholding their common sense and not switch to selfish sense in adversity or challenges.
So everyone created, knows what is the right thing through their common sense. Our forefathers have always done the right things in their days and believed that the land is powerful and will kill anyone who does something bad in the land. This discipline remains their lifestyle and only but few people practise vices, unlike our contemporary society where lots of vices are now the other of the day with the belief from the colonial masters that even if anyone sins, he or she will be forgiven because Jesus Christ has paid for our sins. This notion has made our people feel free to do whatever they want and have no fear at all. Now let me ask you a question. The one who is scared to live a bad life and one who believes that he or she will have a second chance or more, who will be more righteous?
Righteousness is not a product of religion but self-discipline. But religion helps to remind people of the need to be good while our common sense guides us to be good. because everyone will love to be treated fine and as such needs to treat another fine, so common sense is mostly needed for a righteous life, for when one treats another fine, there will be no need for religion.
ln the olden days and even in the present days in some villages and towns, criminals are even punished by people as we term it jungle justice. Those people who punish those criminals are mostly not religious but the fact that their common sense tells them that that thing those criminals did is unjust and should die, shows that common sense is mostly required to live right and not believe that, at most one will go into prison and come out. but the fear of death with no more options instils more discipline in people.
